Scott AF // Living or Dying // Lineupokc Exclusive
Living or Dying-
In the new age of music there is so much inspiration and it begs the question: NOT WHAT WE CAN’T DO but WHAT WE CAN DO with our sound. With Living or Dying, you'll find a sonic potpourri of soulful layered vocals melted with electronic sounds throughout this whole tune. At some point you may even ask yourself if you heard bird chirps . . . This new single I’m dropping with LINEUPOKC is incredibly special to me. It’s truly the first track I co-produced on. The inspiration is from a narrative I wrote when I first started writing the song. I envisioned a futuristic jungle in a time where planet EARTH was in a similar situation as the movie // INTERSTELLAR //. The planet is eroding at an exponential rate, there’s no food, and little water. The story is based around a young woman trying to escape by fighting to the death for a ticket to Mars. The rich survive and the poor are left behind.
Throughout the script, the young 20 something rages against whatever is left of the government. She blacks out multiple times throughout the song only to find herself digging into deeper darkness. By the end of the tune, she’s literally in the cockpit of a beat up NASA Space craft. Crying tears of joy, she thinks she has finally escaped. But she blacks out for one final time. The last two shots of the music video are of people from multiple space stations in orbit, looking down at what we have done to planet Earth. The final shot flashes back to the young 20 something. There seems to be a doctor standing over her, but in reality, it is a man plugging her in because she is actually Artificial Intelligence. The young woman was programmed along side other AI’s to stay back and record data once Earth was completely evacuated. They had been programmed the whole time to try and help save what was left of the planet. Living or Dying is a wake up song to what we will encounter if we don’t take the matters that we're facing in this world right now seriously.
What I’ve been working on –
Over the holidays and the last few months I’ve been working pretty hard on bettering myself. From taking online music production, and mixing classes, to finishing up a new music video that will be released in the springtime, I've been working on me. The video I will be releasing is an iconic 80's hit from Def Leppard, "Pour Some Sugar On Me.” In today's era, I've decided to turn this monster rock tune into a softer ballad, with a Scott AF twist. Of course, I kept the 80's feel with my instrumentation, but I also layered my vocals like a pop tune. This is just a sneak peek into what my next EP will unveil, which is another exciting announcement!
For Summer 2017, I have the opportunity to work on my EP full time. It’s been years since I’ve put out an EP and I think it’s overdue. The 1st half of the Summer I will be in Denver, Colorado breathing in that fresh mountain air. Then the 2nd half of the summer, I’m flying for the first time over seas, out to London. I’ll be out there for a few meetings and then I'll finish up this dope project. I’ve already finished my first tune for the EP: Vintage Style. As far as details, I’m leaving that up to the ears of my listeners. For now, I’m keeping my mind focused on classes and on this new project.
