"Out of Control" // LINEUPOKC Exclusive Drop
"Out of Control" by Stick ft Mike Turner (Prod by Trippin Barry)
"I feel like I'm an artist that has had a decent amount of time to soak in all the things that come with being a musician in our city, but I'm still very young and have the energy and drive that comes with that," Says 20-year-old Oklahoma City rapper, Stick- whose real name is Malique Lytle.
Stick (Whose name was given to him by family members and homies for always being so skinny) has recently gained attention in the city performing at some of the best local showcases this year.
"My favorite show was January 23rd of 2016 at The Womb with Josh Sallee and Mike Turner. The energy that night was insane! That venue is bad ass too."
What don't people know about you and your music that they should?
"I feel like people hear one song and try to put you in a box, but there's so much more to music than that. I like making all kinds of music and playing with different sounds. I listen to basically everything, but country so I get a lot of different influences."
You're a young artist in OKC. How does that affect the way you create music, and promote yourself out here and all around?"It affects it in a positive way because I feel like it's not too much pressure on me and how I make music. The young people of OKC have been working really hard lately. I feel like I'm an artist that has had a decent amount of time to soak in all the things that come with being a musician in our city, but I'm still very young and have the energy and drive that comes with that."How did this song come about and how was it working with another Oklahoma artist Mike Turner?"First off the track is produced by Trippin Barry. I was at the collective studio kicking back with Mike and some other homies and I played the beat out loud. I rapped the hook to everybody and they were immediately fucking with it. We got our verses written and eventually recorded it with my engineer iAustinibeats. I've been knowing about Mike's music for a minute, and he definitely puts in work around here in OKC. That's fam at this point, and imma always show love when I can."How would you describe your sound?"One adjective I would use to describe my music is energetic. It's definitely not something you can listen to and just stand around. It's got some new wave sounds, but at the same time, you can tell I'm really rapping. I can make anything on any beat as well though. I enjoy trying new things. I think versatility is very important."
What projects have you had, and what projects are you working on?
"I haven't dropped a full body of work since my mixtape I dropped my junior year of high school. It was called Red Planes, and had 14 songs. Right now I'm working on a project, but I'm not gonna say too much until it's finished. Just know I got something crazy in the works for y'all coming soon."
